October 26th, Ironman GNCC Round #13

This was it, I was pretty nervous because the entire 2008 GNCC season had come down to the last round of racing in Crawfordsville Indiana. I had a 1 point lead over Cody Mummert and who ever won, would win the Championship. We lined up next to each other off the start and my Plessinger Cycles KTM got me off to another great start, with the holeshot! I had a nice gap going into the woods and I just tried to ride smooth and pull a comfortable gap. I came around the first lap and I saw on the pitboard that Cody had crashed, but was still in it. That was a big relief mentally and allowed me to relax a little.

The track crew decided to route us up Ironman hill, it’s about three stories tall and almost vertical at the top. Every lap I had to convince myself to keep going up it, it was pretty tough but I knew the championship was on the line so I had to keep riding hard.

My Pro-Action suspension was working awesome and it really soaked up the rough stuff. All my training over the summer had really paid off because my last lap was one of my fastest! It was a really close race and my mom said that we were even as close as 20 seconds in the woods!

I ended up winning by 4 minutes and finishing a career best of 37th overall which was the top B rider!

Thanks to Bart at PG Grafx, IMS, Kevin Cogar At Pro-Action Suspension, Moose Racing, Smith Goggles, Six Six One and p2Profile for an awesome website!

I look forward to all your future support in 2009!

October 12th, Powerline Park GNCC Round #12

St. Clairsville has never been one of my favorite tracks, the hardpack conditions, lack of anything technical, and the extreme dust makes it hard to separate riders. However, the points were really close between me and Cody going into this weekend’s race, and I had the chance to wrap up the title if I came out with a win. I was really hoping to do it since I had just won the last four GNCC’s and I felt like I was on a role and the bike was really working good.

200 B was the first B row of the day which made it easier for us since lappers weren’t such an issue in the dust. My Plessinger Cycles KTM got me off to a great start, I was leading going around the first turn but Cody passed me going into the second turn and I could tell he was already charging hard. Since he had to win in order to keep championship fight going into the last round, I decided to just let him make the mistakes, except he never made any! Our laptimes were within 45 seconds of each other for the first 4 laps and I decided to back off and stay consistent.

I still ended up with a second place finish and 47th overall! The championship will be decided at the last round in Crawfordsville Indiana.

Thanks to Bart at PG Grafx, IMS, Moose Racing, Six Six One and Kevin Cogar at Pro-Action Racing!

I look forward to seeing everyone at Ironman!!
